There is, in abandoned buildings, a kind of inhabited silence. A suspended promise. They vibrate with a discreet presence, a history that can be felt beneath the bricks and dust.
These are territories to be revived, interstices of times past, just waiting to be reborn.
The Turbine 240 gallery will be at the heart of Magog's weavers' district. More than just an address, it will be the center of renewal, vibrant with color and creativity.
La Turbine 240: Art as a Catalyst for Transformation
Our journey began in 2008 with a simple yet profound belief: that forgotten places still hold beauty — and that with care and vision, they can be reborn. As an architect drawn to breathing new life into old buildings, and as an artist devoted to the power of creation, we united our paths around a shared mission: to awaken the soul of a neglected neighborhood through art and thoughtful design.
The first step was modest — the acquisition of a former textile building — but symbolic. It was a spark, a quiet invitation for the area to reimagine itself. Over time, the neighborhood responded. A café, a yoga studio, a coffee roaster — life returned, slowly but with meaning.
A fragile ecosystem of renewal began to emerge.
In 2023, a second building entered our story. This time, with greater clarity and creative freedom, we committed fully to our original vision: to make art the beating heart of community transformation. Thus was born La Turbine 240, an art gallery designed not only as a cultural space, but as a beacon of collective energy.
The name draws inspiration from the three historic turbines found on site — once used to power textile looms, now repurposed as symbols of creative force. Here, energy becomes metaphor. Art becomes movement.
La Turbine 240 will host visionary artists such as Étienne St-Amant, whose work blends science, mathematics, and technology. But the gallery is not confined by walls — it expands into the street, the public square, the in-between spaces of the city. The neighbourhood itself becomes a canvas, and art becomes the current that flows through it.
Our dream is clear: to see this place rise as a living artwork, a source of pride, memory, and possibility — shaped by those who inhabit it.
2025 marks a turning point. The gallery will open its doors as a bold declaration: that it is indeed possible to dream with eyes wide open — and to live inside that dream, together.
